RAW Feeding

Take how many pounds your dog is and times it by .02
That is how much raw you will give your dog PER DAY.

Example:
My German Shepherd is 60 lbs x .02 = 1.2 lbs per day.

I personally feed once a day due to lifestyle.

I give a variety of meats.
I have chicken backs, beef chunks, ground salmon, tripe, ground boneless turkey, and liver.

I get ground boneless turkey, ground salmon, ground whole chicken from Medford. Which is on FaceBook. Michigan Medford Raw orders, owner of FB page is Jen Rainey. If you are to lazy, you can get Eureka from here also. But you would still have to defrost it all and put in containers.

I get my chicken backs, beef chunks, tripe, liver, ground whole chicken, and bones from Dan's Trucking. Which is on FaceBook.
Michigan Raw Feeders, owner of FB page is Deb Leonard.
Here is the link to see what Dan's Trucking has to offer.

When orders open with Deb and/or me, you will call Dan's directly with your order and you will pay them over the phone. After all orders are made, Deb comes up with how much you will pay her for shipping. The shipping is divided up between everyone and all the meat. She pays this full amount in advance so you MUST pay her or you can probably say good bye to your order.
We can usually order as much as we want when it comes to winter. But when spring/summer comes, it will be limited.

I always order more than what I need. I currently have 8 German Shepherds to feed.

Here is also another FaceBook page

If you are close to my area, Midland, you are welcome to come to my FB group.
TriCityMichiganRawFeeders.
This is a group where we try to help each other get the raw closer up here. Most raw is picked up from Detroit, Lansing and Casco.

Below, I will show pictures of what you will have to expect and what you probably should have handy, to make feeding easier.

This is Medford. It comes in a 50 lb block, frozen.
Yes, there is blood when it defrosts. I would suggest getting a very large tote to defrost it and put in smaller containers.

This is also Medford.

Here are the containers I use. They are Sterilite 6 Qt./ 5.7 L
These will hold 10 lbs of raw. Works for me because I have 8 dogs to feed.
About 12 lbs of meat everyday is consumed.

raw
I got these containers for only a $1.00 at Dollar General.
Darn good deal and they have been lasting in the freezer and defrosting.
If you only have one or two dogs, I would suggest smaller containers. Unless you put different kinds of raw in one of these containers.

The big tote is what I use to put the Medford in, to defrost. 50 lbs usually takes 24 hours to defrost. 100 lbs usually takes 48 hours to defrost. As it defrosts, I start putting some of it away in the containers. I do this every day till it is all put away. All containers must go in the freezer right after packaging.
The small container is use to defrost the actual meals. If I have containers already ready for meals, I put it in that tote and let it defrost over night.

I always have to take the dogs meals from the freezer and let defrost over night. After I get out of work, it is usually ready for feeding.
